Julius Jortner, of Pacific City, reads his poems at various open-mic events along the Oregon coast from Newport to Manzanita. Born in Romania before World War II, he came to Oregon in the early 1990s via Bombay, New York City, and Los Angeles. He was schooled at Stuyvesant High School and Cooper Union, both in New York City, and at the University of California in Los Angeles. Now a widower, he has experienced marriage, divorce, fathering, love, friendship, and a career as a freelance engineer, among other aspects of a mostly peaceful life.
